About this school

People’s Preparatory Charter School was founded in 2011 as an independent charter high school serving grades 9–12 in Newark. On July 1, 2023, it merged with Achieve Community Charter School under the BRICK Education Network, and the combined school now operates as BRICK Gateway Academy. People’s Prep now functions as the high school campus of BRICK Gateway Academy.

During its independent operation, People’s Prep focused on college preparation, including college counseling, financial aid application support, and NJSIAA athletic competition. Its seniors were known by the school as the “Wolfpack.” Families previously enrolled at People’s Prep are now part of BRICK Gateway Academy.
