About this school

KIPP Newark Public Schools is a tuition-free public charter network serving kindergarten through 12th grade across 12 Newark campuses (five elementary schools, five middle schools, and two high schools). A child who starts kindergarten at a KIPP elementary campus can continue within the network through middle and high school, without re-entering the citywide application between grade bands.

Programs and services reported by the school:

  • KIPP Forward: advisors support graduates through college and career placement, help with applications, financial aid, internships, and persistence support that continues beyond high school.
  • Student support: co-teaching in early-grade classrooms, counselors and social workers at each campus, and full special education and multilingual learner services.
  • Activities: NJSIAA athletics, marching band and arts programs, and STEM clubs including robotics.

No tuition and no entrance exam. Free breakfast, lunch, and snack daily; NJ Transit passes are provided for eligible students. Siblings of enrolled students receive priority in the Newark Common App lottery. The enrollment team offers help in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Program information above is reported by KIPP. The listed 2025 graduation rate is 88.6% (NJDOE). Reported enrollment for 2025–26 is 6,600 students (NJDOE, listed under TEAM Academy Charter School, the network’s state reporting name).
