Program Description
The Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM) Academy Charter School will be established as an academically intensive college preparatory middle school located in Newark. TEAM Academy intends to open its doors to 80 fifth graders for a mandatory summer school session in July 2002. The mission of TEAM Academy is to prepare students with the academic skills, intellectual habits, and character traits necessary to succeed in high school, college and the competitive world beyond. The school day will extend from 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. during the week with four hours on Saturday and a one-month summer session. The extra hours add up to 67 percent more time in the classroom than the national average. All of these hours are focused on addressing the academic, intellectual and social needs of the students. The success of TEAM Academy will stem from the commitment to hard work and excellence on the part of students, faculty and parents. The school will provide Newarkâs youth a choice in academic programs by offering an accelerated instructional curriculum. Students will have the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of all New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards for their current grade, as well as proficiency in many concepts and skills of the succeeding grade levels. TEAM Academy Charter School is affiliated with the KIPP School Network.

hello im a parent of a 12 yr old girl and we have moved from East Orange . She was in charter school while we were livving in East Orange. Now im trying to get her back in but why is it so hard to get her back into a charter school. right now she attends hawthorne which is a troubled school. she needs a little more structure.
